This KTO shall go down in history as the last KTO as we knew it. So be there for the grand finale and the 38th KTO on November 10 – 12, 2023. We definitely plan to party like there’s no tomorrow and hope you’re all up for this big “farewell” party, probably the biggest “farewell” party in the Alps 2023.
The traditional Kaunartal Opening will be realigned and moved to spring in a modified form. At this time of year, the Snowpark Kaunertal can be offered with much less effort than in the fall and thus one continues to pursue a careful and sustainable use of resources and energy efficiency. As part of the DNA of the Kaunertal Glacier, the Kaunertal Snowpark will therefore continue to exist and move into spring!
This year, however, the “Grande Finale” or the big closing party will be proclaimed once again and we wish nothing else but to have all of you with us. Dig out the old things of your parents or the last “bad taste” party, bring them up and celebrate 2 days the 38th KTO 2023 with all your friends of the snowboard and freeski scene.
We invite you to celebrate the almost 40 year tradition of the KTO on site with us. Get the old stuff out of your parents’ boxes, whether overalls, skis or 90s snowboards, and wear them again in honor. The whole weekend a selected jury will be looking for the best retro outfits and at the end on Sunday at noon the winner will be awarded.
To take part, pick up a Retro Award textile sticker at the Testival accreditation booth, leave your name and you’re already in the running to win the prizes. You can win an annual pass for the Kaunertal Glacier and other prizes from the snowboard and freeski scene.
At this year’s premiere of the “KTO Invitational Pro Rail Sesh” 10 invited pro riders will ignite a firework of tricks on the terrace setup. The goal is to give the pros and semi-pros a stage and to reserve the remaining sessions open for the amateur riders. So everybody has the chance to participate in the numerous other sessions without having to compete with the sponsored riders. On Saturday one of the highlights of this year’s Openings will take place after the Pro Sesh. In the spirit of the common past, the HEAD OPEN “GOODIES & CASH FOR TRICKS” session will be a joint session open to freeskiers and snowboard amateurs. Mix it up and have fun together. That’s what it’s all about in the end!
In the spirit of the “Playground for the Youth”, the unique skate ramp on the mountain will also be used for its own session. In a combined format with the new board sport “Snowskate” the “Snowskate & Skate Best Trick Session powered by Ambition and X-Double” will take place on Saturday afternoon. Framed by a “DJ Special”, where also the origin years of the Kaunertal Opening will be the topic.
Sunday brings Downdays back to Kaunertal. With the “500 BUCKS BEST TRICK SESSION” hosted by DAN HANKA 500,– Euro will be awarded in a cool best trick format. Dan “the man” Hanka will manage the “cash” and take a close look at the tricks. Nevertheless – stay loose open for all of you. Check it out.
Participation in all sessions is free and open without registration. There are great prizes to be won from the session partners and for good tricks there’s cash directly.

Also at the traditionally numerous side events of the Kaunertal Opening, some highlights from past times are on the program this year. Like 20 years ago, there will be a “Tattoo Station by Julian Tattoo” directly on the mountain, where you can get a special and unique KTO souvenir “stung” for free. Also the so popular “Mountain Barber” will provide his services again this year. At the probably highest hairdresser in Europe you can also have your hair styled and, in the best case, have a KTO logo “sprayed”. An extended snowboard museum with exhibits from 30 years of board history will also be installed on site.
In terms of sports, on the event weekend, in addition to the perfectly shaped open park and snowskate obstacles at the terrace setup, there will be even more casual stations available. The PZ Pumptrack invites you to “skate and/ or bmx laps” between slope and park laps and at the Balance Board Corner you can try your hand at cool balance seesaws.
To top it off, we invite you to the RETRO FLASHMOB RIDE directly from the Karlesjochbahn down to the terrace setup on Sunday afternoon. Your “neon-colored” suits we will of course cut together afterwards in a unique edit and look forward to your participation and the video!
2 NIGHTS – 3 CLUBS – FREE ENTRY!
The retro theme and the history of the KTO are this year also musically on the program. In addition to the DJ line on the mountain, which this year will also increasingly perform songs from the past 30 years, there will be an exclusive Ö3 disco in the Quellalpin hall for the first time in the valley. The technically elaborate production is aimed at all dance-loving regional and national visitors with the greatest hits of the 80s and 90s and “from today”.
But also the other venues in Feichten such as the Zappadello or the Zahnstadel offer again a cool DJ line up as part of the “Club Circles” in Feichten, which will be held again this year after several years.
The Ö3 Disco and all other DJ evenings of the event weekend will take place with free admission.

With the vernissage of the Gaptastic Voyage Photo Gallery and the following Movie Premiere Night on Friday in the Quellalpin Saal we start perfectly into the 38th KTO weekend. After the first pre-rides in the park, it’s just the right time to meet up with old friends in the valley for a beer and celebrate the latest movies of the year together.
